Books I Use and Why?

Hi!

In this blog post I will explain the books I use for piano teaching and why.

For children who are beginners and are around 11 or below I tend to use John Thompson Book 1 because it is popular and provides a good basis for those who want to go onto exams or fun pieces.

Also, for children who are around 11 or below I tend to use Monkey Puzzles Book 1 because it teaches the child about music theory and about how to read the music.

For children who beginners and are around 12 or above I tend to use Faber Adult Piano Adventures All-In-One Book because it also provides a good basis for those who want to go onto exams or fun pieces and has lots of well known pieces in it.

For people who want to do exams after using beginner books I use:

Trinity and/or ABRSM Piano exam books but if you would like to do other exam board books I could discuss this with you.

For people who want to do it for fun after using beginner books I use:

A mixture of materials such as:

ABRSM Pop Performer

Or

Songs from websites such as MuseScore, MusicNotes or SheetMusicFree

Or

Whatever you would like to work on

Thanks very much for reading

Ryan
